Our working artist studio

In collaboration with Seaport Village, Studio by the Bay is an extension of The New Children’s Museum’s process-based art practice. Two professional artists are creating artwork in the studios exploring contemporary themes.

Studio by the Bay provides an opportunity for the visiting community and local artists to interact, consistent with the Museum’s mission to stimulate creativity, imagination and critical-thinking skills in children and families through inventive experiences with contemporary art. Both the Museum and Seaport Village are iconic family destinations in the Marina District positioned near the San Diego Bay. The presence of working artists in this partnership strengthens ties among neighbors and builds the capacity for arts and culture along the port of San Diego.

Along with creating a new body of work, the artists partner with the Museum and Seaport Village each month to host Studio by the Bay Family Days that offer free weekend workshops for children and families.
